Reuse, Think Ahead, Preserve Value

With the publication of the EU Textiles Strategy in 2022, the EU Commission has shared its vision for the sustainable use of textiles.

The transition to a textile´s circularity will result in significant transformation within our industry. We, together with the Boer Group, are actively engaged in both national and European associations to help shape these legislative initiatives.

LAP3/Circular Mapping Plan

LAPS is an acronym for the third national waste management plan (NWMP). One objective of this waste policy is the optimisation of the use of waste in a circular economy.

Since the NWMP ended in 2025, work is currently underway on its successor, called circular mapping plan (CMP). The new plan shall provide more information on all phases of a material chain, from design through processing and reuse, rather than only on waste as in NWMP. So, this plan encourages the transition to a circular economy. In consequence, the plan will also outline the legislation that applies to it for each sector.

Extended Producer Responsibility for Textiles

On October 16, the revised Waste Framework Directive entered into force. It obliges EU Member States to adopt national regulations regarding extended producer responsibility for textiles (EPR) by June 17, 2027. In the Netherlands, EPR has been already introduced since July 2023.

Against this background, the Dutch degree on EPR for textiles needs to be amended according to the European minimum requirements.
